Winding paths, natural stream valleys and three via ferratas (which can be bypassed) at lofty heights promise hiking pleasure at the highest level. In addition, there are magnificent views of the Hunsrück and the Moselle valley far into the Eifel. The trail also passes old slate tunnels, slate spoil heaps, and reconstructed former slate tunnel workers' homes.

Above the starting point is the Schock Chapel, also known by locals as the Chapel of the Sinner of the Poor. In front of the chapel, vantage points far into the Eifel are marked on a slate board. The trail heads downhill on earthy, winding forest paths to the Mörsdorfer Bach stream.

Behind the Pulgermühle mill, the trail begins through the Flaumbachtal valley through open meadowland along the forest's edge.

After crossing the Flaumbach stream, three climbing routes follow: the Burgberg climbing route, the Schinnkaul climbing route and the Höhlenschlucht climbing route. Those who do not want to take on the strains of the climbing routes can use the signposted bypass. The bypass trail and climbing routes come together again after a few minutes.

Afterwards, the trail runs through the extensive forest area past old slate tunnels, slate spoil heaps and partially reconstructed dwellings of the former slate tunnel workers. You can recover from the long ascent from the Flaumbachtal valley and enjoy far-reaching views of the Eifel on a bench.

The trail has been awarded 90 experience points by the German Hiking Institute.

General information

Directions

From the car park, follow the signs to the dream loop out of the village and reach the Mittelstrimmig portal. From here, we hike in approx. 300m on the asphalted road, past an educational tree trail, which can be instructive not only for younger hikers. After enjoying the beautiful view at the "Schockkapelle", we cross the L200 with caution and enter the Schockwald. Here the path passes a covered hut with barbecue facilities. The hike now leads us onto open terrain. From this high place, we enjoy the beautiful view over the valley. We keep to the left for about 1200m downhill along natural field paths and a narrow path to the Altstrimmig portal. Another roofed hut with barbecue facilities awaits us there. On a narrow, winding path through a quiet forest along a small stream, we walk approx. 500m downhill to the "Bildbach". We keep to the left and hike approx. 1300m to the Mörsdorfer Bachtal. Here we keep left again and follow the so-called "Talrandweg" along the "Mörsdorfer Bach" and come across the first resting benches. After about 2000m, we reach the first sensory bench, where we enjoy the peace of the valley and the murmur of the stream. You can also study geology a little further under a covered seat if you like.
Loaded with lots of information, we set off again through a partly open valley, past the Birkmühle. Shortly before reaching the Pulgermühle, we turn left and follow the path uphill for about 50m until we reach the road, which we cross carefully. After another 500m of forest path, we now enter the Flaumbach valley and hike approx. 900m through the partly open valley until we reach the "Flaumbach". We keep to the left and creep along the Flaumbach on a narrow path for approx. 300m, almost walking in the water, until we cross the Flaumbach over an impressive bridge. Continuing through the quiet valley, we approach the first via ferrata of our Traumschleife after about 200m. The possible diversions leads further through the valley to the "Schafsbrücke". All those who do not shy away from the climbing route are rewarded at the top with a magnificent view over the Flaumbachtal valley. After the descent on the other side of the "Burgberg", the climbers also reach the "Schafsbrücke". Now we dive into the forest and hike uphill on the historic Celtic path for about 300m until we come to a wayside cross.
This is the start of the second climbing route. Through the young mixed forest, we make our way along a narrow path for about 300m to the small pulpit foot, where we then go up on crampons embedded in the rock. Here, too, there is the option of bypassing the climb. Once at the top, we enjoy another beautiful view. Once rested, we continue slowly uphill for about 100m until we turn right onto a path. We hike upwards for another 300m to reach the large pulpit on soft, leaf-covered forest paths. Several resting benches and a hut invite you to linger on another sensory bench. Everyone should enjoy the view over the Flaumbach valley once again. After this break, follow the narrow paths to the third climbing route, which leads down a ladder to the old slate tunnels; of course, this route can also be bypassed.  After the slate tunnels, which served as shelters during the Second World War, the trail climbs slightly and passes a wetland biotope.
After crossing the main road, we reach the Liesenich portal via a path. Here, too, a sensory bench invites us to take a rest. The last part of the hike is an easy walk on quiet field paths past a fish pond to the starting point at the Mittelstrimmig portal.

Safety Guidelines

All of the dream loops have some steep, difficult passages that can be slippery in rainy or winter weather. Therefore, hiking boots, sure-footedness, and good physical condition are essential requirements for hiking these premium circular trails.

This dream loop is not accessible in ice and snow.

Three climbing passages require a head for heights. These climbing routes can also be bypassed.

Equipment

Sturdy footwear (hiking boots) is strongly recommended.
