Canoe tour from Schoden to the castle and waterfall in Saarburg and back.
On a canoe tour with Kanu SaarFari on the Saar, you will discover the scenic beauty of the Saar valley in a completely new way. This adventure starts in Schoden and first leads upstream to Saarburg. Here you should not miss out on a detour into the Leuk. The short detour into the Leuk is not to be missed. The route leads between the pond walls to the Leukkessel, from here you can look down on the 20 metre high waterfall. The varied tour continues down the Saar through the wine-growing landscape to Schoden and the water sports centre on the banks of the Saar.
Canoe tour without a guide from Schoden - Saarburg - Schoden.
Difficulty level: low flow speed, shipping lane.
The paddling fun begins at the water sports centre on the banks of the Saar in Schoden. From there, the route first heads upstream, past vineyards and the wine villages of Biebelhausen, Ayl and Ockfen to Saarburg.
You should definitely take the detour into the Leukbach stream to the waterfall basin. Paddle between the pond walls to the Leukkessel, from where the waterfall plunges 20 metres over rocky cascades.
The return journey takes you back downstream to the canoe station in Schoden. The boats do not need to be moved on this tour.
Preserve and protect nature!
- As canoeists, we love nature, want to protect it, preserve it and set an example for others.
- In order to avoid trampling damage, we only start and stop at specially designated entry and exit points.
- We do not paddle our boats into reed beds, reed beds or pond and water lily areas so that the plants are not destroyed.
- To avoid disturbing waterfowl and other river dwellers, we do not paddle too close to the animals and stay away from nesting sites and retreat areas and keep as quiet as possible.
- We make sure that no plastic bottles or other rubbish fall into the river.
- For species conservation reasons, pets are not permitted in the boat in the nature reserve.
What do I need to bear in mind?
- The Saar is a major shipping route and, as in road traffic, there is an absolute ban on drugs and alcohol!
- For their own safety, canoe tour participants should be able to swim. Children under the age of 12 should be accompanied by an adult for their first canoeing experience.
- Our life jackets are very comfortable and do not hinder paddling. They provide buoyancy in the event of capsizing and protect against cold and injury. Even very good swimmers wear a buoyancy aid with us.
- Large vessels always have right of way. To avoid being surprised by a large push boat, canoeists always paddle on the edge of the big river.
- Prohibited and life-threatening areas, e.g. in front of weirs, are marked with a red-white-red sign. These areas must be avoided on a large scale.
What should you bring?
- Headgear, sunglasses, sun cream
- depending on the weather, rain protection
- sportswear and shoes that can get wet
- a change of clothes
- at least 1 litre of drinking water per person
- 1 identity card per group
This canoe tour offers a completely new view of the impressive waterfall in Saarburg! A very special experience!
