The hike leads from Palzem along the main route of the Moselsteig Trail to Kreuzweiler and continues along the access route via Merzkirchen and Trassem to Saarburg.

The hike on the Moselsteig Access Trail begins in Palzem on the Upper Moselle. The main route of the Moselsteig Trail first takes you to Kreuzweiler. The route continues along the signposted access path towards Merzkirchen, where there are beautiful views of the Saargau. Shortly before Trassem, you pass the fishing pond. The last section of the hike leads through the romantic Leukbachtal valley to the destination of Saarburg. The medieval town offers numerous sights that are well worth a visit!

Palzem - Moselsteig Trail towards Perl - Dilmarbach - Kreuzweiler - Jungenwald - Breisdorferwald - L 133 - branch off here onto the access route towards Saarburg - Moschholz - Ehringer Berg - Kirf wind farm - Merzkirchen - Portz - Trassem fishing pond - Trassem - Perdenbach - Leukbachtal - Saarburg.

Safety Guidelines

Please note that there are no refreshment stops on the route from Palzem to Trassem. Sufficient rucksack provisions are therefore recommended.

Sturdy footwear and sufficient rucksack provisions are recommended.

Tip

The Moselsteig Trail access routes Palzem - Saarburg and Saarburg - Konz combined with the Moselsteig Trail stages 2+3 result in a varied 4-day round trip!

Getting there

Palzem can be reached via the B 419 along the Moselle.

Parking

In Palzem there are parking facilities in the town centre around the market square.

Public transit

Palzem can be reached via the DB line Wittlich-Trier-Perl. Saarburg can be reached via the DB Saarbrücken - Trier line.
