Three stream valleys, 6 villages, a castle, numerous bridges! Varied round tour through the villages of a church community. From the Moselle up to the Hunsrück.
Round trip with ups and downs - a total of three brook valleys are to be hiked through.Insights into the hiking tour:The parish path connects the villages of Veldenz, Thalveldenz, Gornhausen, Klaramühle, Hirzlei and castles, which belong to a common parish or church community. Three rustic brook valleys, the Barbelley rocks and castles with its many small bridges make the path very varied. Further exciting insights are offered by the Villa Romana in Veldenz, which can look back on Celtic-Roman origins. In the basement of the villa there are still large parts of a well preserved Roman bath. There are also magnificent views of the Moselle valley and the Eifel region along the route. You can stop for refreshments in various restaurants and inns - all of them are along the way. On the way there are also nice resting places in the open air where the backpack food can be consumed.
You start, for example, at the Villa Romana in Veldenz and hike via the Veldenzer Hammer residential area to the district of Thalveldenz, above which the Veldenz Castle is enthroned. The hiking route leads you through the village. After a short stretch along the Thälerbach stream, the trail then follows a serpentine forest path up to the Gornhausener Höhe. Here, at an altitude of around 450 metres, a refreshing breeze always blows. There is a great view of the Moselle valley and the Eifel region. Through the small village, the hiking trail leads you past the Barbelley viewing rock down along the Herrenbach stream to the Klaramühle mill. From there you walk along the Frohnbach stream to Hirzlei. Over a beautiful meadow path you will reach Burgen, a village which is often called "Little Venice" because of its many bridges. In Burgen you cross the Frohnbach and then walk slightly uphill below the edge of the forest back to Veldenz.
Wide paths, which can also be used by winegrowers and forest workers.
Hiking boots and rucksack provisions are recommended.
The Klaramühle is a restaurant for outings in the middle of the forest, about 1 kilometre from Gornhausen. Nice to rest and - if you like - mini golf!
