Hike to the world-famous "Ayler Kupp" vineyard with breathtaking views of the lower Saar valley and the countryside around Ayl.
Ayl sports ground - Biebelhausener Straße - farm track at the foot of the Ayler Kupp - tarmac farm track - vantage point - return route.
The tour starts at the car park of the sports club (sports field) in Biebelhauser Straße, at the foot of the Ayler Kupp, from where you first walk a few metres along a local road with little traffic until you reach the farm track at the foot of the Ayler Kupp. The route takes you into the vineyards on asphalted farm tracks throughout.
This is a route tour that is 4.3 kilometres long in total. The outward and return routes are identical. Over the length of the route, there are 20 metres of ascent and 10 metres of descent, with a gradient of between 3 and 4% over a length of around 200 metres at the start of the farm tracks. After that, the gradient is between 0 and 2%. There is a seating area to take a break, which may be in the shade depending on the time of day, but is not barrier-free.
Between kilometre 1.3 and 1.5%, the gradient is between 4 and 5%. Once you reach the farm track, there is still a gradient of between 0 and 2% to overcome. The effort is rewarded with a marvellous view of the lower Saar valley. After a rest, you return to the car park along the same path. Unfortunately, there is no accessible toilet. With the exception of the aforementioned seating area, there is no seating along the route.
Please note that this hiking trail is not a certified premium hiking trail and there is no continuous signposting along the route. Furthermore, the trail runs partly.
Please note: There is a seating area along the route where you can take a break, but it is not barrier-free. As there are no refreshment stops along the way, we recommend that you take sufficient rucksack provisions with you.
At the end of the tour, we recommend a visit to the wine press house in the centre of Ayl (barrier-free).
You can reach Ayl via the B51.
