The Hunsrück-Moselle cycle route is an ideal cycle tour over the Hunsrück heights into the Moselle valley. Due to the parking facilities, we recommend starting the tour in Kastellaun.
The Hunsrück-Moselle cycle route connects Büchenbeuren, Hahn Airport and Kastellaun with the Moselle valley. The route over the Hunsrück only requires short, moderate climbs for everyday cyclists. The route then only descends to the Moselle. Here you can continue cycling on the Moselle cycle path.
Initially, the western section of the trail stretches across the flattened Hunsrück heights along the watershed of the Nahe and Moselle rivers between Büchenbeuren and Kastellaun. Further on, a quiet, traffic-free connection leads from the Hunsrück to the Moselle. Partly in the valley, partly on the wide heights, the cycle path winds its way from Kastellaun through Mannebach, Sabershausen past Petershäuserhof to Lieg, where the rapid descent to Lütz in the Lützbach valley begins.
Observe the traffic rules, pay attention to other road users and drive at an appropriate speed, especially in the exits. Be considerate of other cyclists and pedestrians.
Start the tour in Kastellaun and follow the Hunsrück-Moselle cycle path for 30 km to Treis-Karden. Follow the Moselle cycle path for approx. 13 km to Brodenbach, from where the Hunsrück-Moselle cycle bus will take you back.
B 327/50 (Hunsrückhöhenstraße) exit Büchenbeuren or via the Hunsrückhöhenstraße B 327 to Kastellaun.
There are good parking facilities at the old railway station in Kastellaun.
The journey to and from Kastellaun is possible with the "RadBus Hunsrück-Mosel".
