The mountain bike tour, which ranges from moderately difficult to challenging in places, takes you from Briedel or Enkirch over steep climbs into the woods and along picturesque vineyards to the Briedeler Bummkopf.

The tour, which can also be easily experienced on an e-mountain bike, initially runs high up on unpaved forest paths to Burg (Mosel) and the local vineyards. The route continues on asphalt and gravel paths to Enkirch and up to the Bummkopf, after which it goes downhill again on unpaved nature trails to the starting point.

General information

Directions

From the parking lot, drive through the village of Briedel and past the first vineyards. Cross the Briedelerbach and turn left there towards the first climbs of the tour. Now the characteristics of the route are changing - because up to the Bernsberg it is now on unpaved and sometimes challenging nature trails through the forests. Then you drive through the vineyards of the municipality of Burg (Mosel) to Enkirch. In the village or after a short climb up into the vineyards, you can take a breather and enjoy the Moselle landscape. Now after about half of the route it's back on gravel roads and nature trails up to the Bummkopf and up to the "beautiful view". A wonderful view awaits you here. "Nice" - as the name suggests. The vantage point is a few meters lower than the Bummkopf, which, at 422 m, is the highest elevation along the Hunsrückseite of the Moselle. The route then follows flat natural paths, on which you can take a deep breath, to the Chapel of Sin. A longer descent now lies ahead of you, which you can really enjoy. Please pay attention to pedestrians and hikers in general and especially at this point. Back in Briedel and back at your starting point, the place invites you to linger. The two jewels of the place are the medieval owl tower and the church.

Safety Guidelines

The tour is not specially marked. Be careful when it is wet - water and mud often collects on the paths.
