The nature experience is a 3.1 km long hiking trail that leads through the middle of the Valwiger Herrenberg steep slope. The path was created by many volunteers from all over the village in painstaking manual labour. It was dug into the mountain in consideration of the natural conditions.
The joint project of the villages Bruttig-Fankel, Ernst and Valwig is based on the idea of creating a pleasure connection between a premium Moselle wine and the active experience of the vineyard steep slopes. Get to know the mountain, the path, the wine and the region with all your senses.
The best way to understand a wine cultural landscape that has grown over thousands of years is to explore it. Along rugged cliffs and steep vineyards, you will experience viticulture, flora and fauna up close. Small steps and ropes help to overcome difficult spots.
After and during rain or snowfall or ice, take extra care. Walk carefully, wear good shoes and avoid overconfidence and risky excursions.
Be sure to take enough provisions with you (especially mineral water). However, pay attention to the weight of your backpack. Take breaks, carry a mobile phone (for emergencies) and avoid hiking when there is a risk of thunderstorms.
Sturdy shoes and weatherproof clothing are required for the hike.
As a souvenir, it is recommended to bring a bottle of wine from the region: BREVA wine is a top product made from selected grapes of the Riesling variety. For its production, the winegrowers from the steep vineyards of the Valwiger Herrenberg deliver their best grapes.
